Welcome to my site about learning to play the piano!

Hi, my name is Maria. I am a piano pedagogue and the creator of this site. I live in beautiful Greece but I originally come from Sweden.

I completed my masters in music education in Sweden, and have been teaching piano for over 25 years now, both here in Greece and in Sweden.

My husband is a music educator, researcher and guitarist, my oldest son is a jazz pianist and my youngest son plays both guitar and piano… no influence there at all :)

I love my job! Every day I have the privilege to see students surprising me with something they have learned, composed or invented at the piano. It really makes my day! I am really grateful and blessed to have such a wonderful profession.

In 1998 I opened my own piano studio, and since 2006 I teach full time there. Currently I teach approx. 40 students on all levels in piano, piano ensemble and theory.

When I started my training as a pianist, I had no intention of teaching. No way! Being a pianist was the only thing that mattered. But I soon realized how for me teaching piano was more rewarding than performing would ever be.

Having taught piano in two cultures, as well as teaching students of multiple nationalities in three languages, Greek, English, and Swedish- has been challenging but also very rewarding. I feel I have learned so much…

Starting this online piano studio is something I wanted to do, to partly experiment with online lessons, as well as to share my joy of teaching, and make piano lessons available to even more students.
